Let us begin by saying that if we could have given greater than five stars for this rating, we would have! Throughout our travels, this boutique hotel in Progreso outranks them all! The website pictures, as stunning as they are, can’t do justice to the feast for the senses upon entering and experiencing this oasis! As an adults only facility, the premises exude a calmness and serenity from the bustle of the busy town. The owners have left nothing to chance, guaranteeing weary travellers a most pleasant and enjoyable hotel stay. During our three weeks, the staff employed by the hotel were efficient and friendly, regularly checking in to ensure that all our needs were being met. Also, the fact that the property was non-smoking was a plus. For a winter escape, there was absolutely nothing more we could have wanted. Our reservation for next year has already been placed, and we look forward to repeating our wonderful stay!

For the first time, I'm at a loss for where to start the review. Would it be the owner meeting us at the door to give us a guided tour and an incredibly gracious hostess? Could it be the amazing courtyard with an amazing pool, hammock lounge, and enough plants to make a gardener jealous? Perhaps it would be an art collection that was so extensive that it took all the days to take in and savor? It's just might be the two minute walk to the beach and Malecon. I just don't know so you should probably book a stay and find out for yourself.

Stayed at the Mayan Gypsy for a month in Feb 2026. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place. The art boutique hotel venue with 9 rooms is spectacular and also coupled with the most generous, gracious and wonderful hosts, Aly and Christopher, who go out of their way to cater to your every need, often without the need for asking. This hotel follows 'A Pattern Language', Alexander et al, that desribes architecturaly a comfotable human centered living space.

I stayed here 2 weeks mi us a few days in Merida. What a beautiful hotel. My room was on ground level by the pool. There is a community kitchen in case you want to eat in. The owner are very friendly and helpful for tours and transportation to the airport. There is artwork throughout the property. Everything I walked in the halfway I saw something new. Very close to the beach and malecon.

We've stayed almost for a week at the Mayan Gypsy and it was absolutely fantastic! Location is 3 min walk to the beach, there are lots of nice cafes and bars around. The hotel itself is just wonderful, every corner is carefully curated with lots of details. It's a really great place to unwind and chill.

Overall great, it's kind of hostel style where you have a common space and common kitchen ( unless you get the rooms with kitchenette ) The rooms are themed which I think is cool, and the property is very peaceful. It is adult only, we are 30 and most of the guests were a little older so it was nice and quiet. Good for reading and a good dopamine reset. Alyssa the host was great and very tentative to the guests needs and was on site most of the time, she had a WhatsApp number and got back to us within a couple minutes every time we needed something. Bonus the hotel is covered in amazing Art pieces made by herself and her husband + assuming local artists. The vibe is immaculate. The hotel is just 3 minutes from the beach/boardwalk which is highly convenient. Refreshing spot, would reccomend and will be returning.
